About Us

My name is Casey and I am a first-time mom to a beautiful boy named Carter! Like most new moms, I strive to be the BEST mom ever. How to parent is a hard job. I plan on learning by talking to other parents and by trial and error. Since Carter was born April 21st, 2011, I have become a better version on myself. I have always wanted to become a mom. Thank you Carter, you made me into a mommy.

How Carter Came To Be

I married my husband, Frank, September 25th, 2011. For those of you math whizes, you realize that I was 3 months pregnant when I got married. Carter was most definitely a surprise. The biggest and best surprise of my life. Frank and I were together for 5 years when he proposed on Christmas Day in 2010. It was a huge shock to find out that I was pregnant only 40 days before the wedding! It was amazing how quickly all those things that “had” to be done for the wedding because they were so important, melted away. Somehow we figured it out and I wasn’t even showing in my dress.

How This Blog Came To Be

My pregnancy was just awful. I got through it with the support of my husband and the support of other mothers. Even though I am 29, I only knew a couple other friends with children. I relied on their advice as well as the advice of mothers online. I now hope to pay it forward.

Casey! I love this! We’ve come a LONG way since our days at Sterling and the Beaver House (shudder). Your stories are so funny, and I love the lessons. I’m about to hit my 3rd trimester…ahhhh! So glad to hear all is well with your pretty little family. Can’t wait to put all your lessons to use with my own little man!

Aw Brooke you are so sweet! I’m so happy for you and your family! Having a baby is such an amazing experience and I know you will be an amazing mom! Just look at how well those little rat animals did that you loved so much. I can’t remember what they are called. I had blocked the Beaver House out of my mind 🙂 I do miss that fried chicken now that I am thinking about it….
Can’t wait to see pictures of your baby! Love ya!

Casey, I’m loving the blog!! I’m all over it now catching up on you and the little one, he is precious!! And your “Lessons” are oh so true, I laughed at the “get pajamas without buttons” that’s one that I live by!! Thanks for updating about Todd, I am in shock and am holding back the tears just thinking of what they are going through. xoxo

Thanks for sharing your story! It seems now-a-days more and more pregnancies are surprises, which makes it more fun! 🙂 I was 5 months pregnant when I got married and it didn’t change a thing. Sometimes I love parenting and sometimes I don’t love it. But that’s the best part about parenting 😉 So good luck with your mommy-adventure and I look forward to reading more of your posts!

Hey I just came across your blog. I’m a young parent (25) and my daughter was a surprise too 😉 I can’t wait to read more of your blog posts! Having a baby was a big change but it’s totally worth it.

Thanks Vanessa! It is a huge change! It is funny how you don’t even notice all the changes you are making because you just are in the zone. It is when you look back and realize, “if I didn’t have a baby, I would be watching tv right now instead of washing bottles, breast pump parts, making lunch for tomorrow cause there is no time in the morning, getting food ready for dinner and playing with your baby all at the same time. You don’t realize how much time you have when you aren’t doing anything.
