Vaycay with an Infant: Part 3- Video

August 11, 2011

Despite some minor hiccups, we had a really great trip. Carter was overwhelmed at times by my large and loud family and had spurts of teething-pain induced fits, but for the most part I think he really enjoyed it.

Luckily we missed the tropical storm Emily and it was sunny the whole time. Carter really noticed the ocean and the bright sun. I wondered if he recognized the sound of the waves from his sound simulator. He loved hanging out under our custom umbrella in the pool and taking a nap with mommy in the cool beach chair Grandpa bought us. I know he won’t remember this vacation, but Frank and I will remember it forever. The trip was more for my family to get to meet Carter. They smothered him with love and I just know he felt it. My family is so special to me and I am so grateful for all the words of advice.

I put together a little video to show him when he is older.

Carter’s First Big Trip! from Casey Wilson on Vimeo.

The plane ride home was just as smooth. He slept the entire way except the way down. On the way down he dropped two huge poop bombs that smelled so bad it made my eyes water. Luckily the guy sitting next to us was a father and didn’t even flinch at the smell. Something to look forward to I suppose. When we arrived home we didn’t even attempt to unpack and just fell asleep on what now seems like a tiny queen-sized bed. 😦

LESSON LEARNED: Taking a trip with a baby is hard, but it is doable and soo worth the memories.

Saw you on twitter, and I had to read your blog. I love it! I would totally get a king sized bed if I was going to share with a little one. Out of the couple times I’ve shared with my daughter, I pretty much got kicked out.
